Born on 25 April in Ootmarsum as the son of a baker’s family. Ton grows up with four brothers and one sister.

Education

Secondary education followed by training for window dresser / decorator. Here his creativity can already be recognized.

On the way to art

He leaves the Catholic seminar, because he wants to take the road to art. He works as a window dresser in Enschede.

Ton Schulten focuses exclusively on painting. His wife opens an art gallery in Ootmarsum.

Heavy car luck on Tenerife. Ank and Ton Schulten are in a coma. Ton Schulten awakes from the coma as a new person. He becomes a painter of light and harmony.

Comprehensive documentary about Ton Schulten on television. Ton receives the award as Knight in the Order of Orange Nassau.

In honor of the 65th birthday of Ank Schulten a beautiful red new tulip is named after her: the Tulipa Ank Schulten.

Realization of booklets with paintings by Ton Schulten and poems by Jannie Schoenmakers: Child of the sun and telling in smells and colors.

Also German edition of the book “Wenn der Tag erwacht”.

Anniversary exhibition

Ton Schulten is invited to a special jubilee exhibition at Keukenhof because of its 60th anniversary. The opening of this exhibition will be performed by Her Majesty Queen Beatrix.

Ton Schulten also exhibits in Osnabrück in the DBU.9

Schoonhoven Ceramics

In collaboration with “Schoonhoven Keramiek” a vase, wall plate and bonbonnière is made. It concerns signed copies in limited edition.

Silent power

In May, the first copy of the book “Silent Force” will be presented to former Minister Maria van der Hoeven. This successor to “The Promised Land” contains paintings by Ton Schulten and poems by the late Willem Wilmink.

Service line

The renowned German porcelain factory Köningliche Tettau is developing a Ton Schulten service line with the theme of the four seasons.

The construction of the new Ton Schulten Museum is progressing steadily. The highest point will be reached in May.

Opening of the new Museum

25 April 2013, on the 75th anniversary of Ton Schulten the opening of the new Museum is a fact. A wonderful acquisition for art city Ootmarsum. The opening exhibition in the themed room is provided by couturier Paul Schulten.
